“When I began neurofeedback I had already been working with Dawn for a few years. We were using other modalities for my therapy and had made considerable progress until we both recognized and agreed that something else was needed. Dawn introduced the idea of neurofeedback and because I had developed so much trust in her, I was willing to try it. The benefits I have gained are numerous and have truly changed my life, there is one in particular that has been the most transformative. One of my greatest challenges throughout life has been extreme, at times paralyzing, anxiety and anxious thoughts, and both have truly resolved.
I will never forget realizing that I actually had space in my brain for purposeful thinking, planning, reading, and absorbing what I was reading! “I'd been struggling with sleep for years. First it was onset insomnia, then frequent waking throughout the night. I tried everything I could think of: all the sleep hygiene recommendations, getting diagnosed with sleep apnea and transitioning to a CPAP, medications, meditation, sleep restriction therapy. Nothing was working consistently. I was desperate enough to email Dawn at 3am asking about neurofeedback. I was skeptical going in, though I'd heard it could help with ADHD, which I also have. Dawn was great to work with from the start. She answered all my questions (and I had a lot) without being pushy. She helped me understand what was happening during the process and was thorough in following up to assess progress, making small adjustments as we went. Her staff made every session easy, always friendly and engaging.
I've noticed a real change, particularly with getting more consistent deep sleep, even on nights when I wasn't able to sleep as long as I probably needed. And while it was a secondary goal, my attention and focus have noticeably improved too. I notice this especially on days when I don't take my ADHD medication. I can take days off from it now and still feel like I'm functioning well. I'd absolutely recommend exploring neurofeedback for sleep or focus struggles, and I wouldn't hesitate to explore it for other areas if the need arose.”
